Located on busy Bedford St outside the Alo and Sephora is the newest birria taco spot. All the cool kids on tiktok know what these are, but for the older folk, Birria is a Mexican dish from the state of Jalisco. The dish is a meat stew traditionally made from goat meat, but occasionally made from beef or mutton. The way to eat these tacos is to dip it in the consomme which is the stew that the meat is cooked in. Like BL, the prices are the same at $3 a taco and 4$/6$ for the small or large portions of the comomme. So what's the verdict? It's not bad! Meat was tender and flavorful and the accompanying salsa was good. The consomme was rich and not too salty. But there's just that one something missing from it to be fire like BL. What's great is that there were no lines at this truck during lunch time. They also accept all major credit cards and apple pay! I think BL is still cash only. They are open everyday for lunch and dinner. Birrieria Alexa's Red Tacos is def worth a visit especially when it's freezing cold and you don't want to wait in line at their competitors.
